Why are people so mean on the the internet?
Really?? With facebook, twitter, youtube and especially Instagram. I find it so strange that some people claim to hate drama, but use the internet as a means to embrace more drama??
Lots of people say its just ignorant pre teens fighting over the internet. But I've seen adults argue with each other on Facebook. I've seen adults argue with children too!
I know it's not easy to completely ignore trolls, but why do people feel the need to entertain the foolishness.
I've gotten more than my fair share of Facebook and Twitter attacks, but I usually read it and go on with my life. It really doesn't even faze me.
Why would I let a complete stranger or a person I barely know, upset me to the point that I make a fool of myself on the internet. Responding to the insults is never my first instinct. Most of the times though, the comment is removed in just a few hours.
Why do most people though participate in those ugly arguments. The simplest things can somehow make people say the awfullest things.
There was just an argument on my Instagram, about me having a nice butt or whatever. My friend took it as disrespectful, which was true, but it somehow turned into them wishing them to die, and kill themselves. I tried to calm them down, and the guy said he hopes I get raped!! What?? Why would he say something like that??
Usually I don't respond to insults, but my friend told him to kill himself, and that was after he told her she was so ugly she didn't deserve love. Why does this happen??

Online you can't see the face of the person you're hurting...you can't see how mad or sad you're making them . There's no feelings when you're looking at a screen

I think it's a psychological thing. People have a mindset that they are invincible through the Internet and its just something we will have to get used to because there won't be a stop to it. There are things in life that you just can't control. It's how we deal with those uncontrollable things that makes us stronger / more mature.

Cowardice, patheticism, egomaniacal, phobicated to reality, shallow, spineless, brainless. Kids these days, huh?

Why take it serious and personally? They obviously have issues and find themselves insecure and lack confidence in their own value, and one or more of their capabilities that they take on other people.

They can only speak negative to you since they know their typing behind a computer screen and knowing their completely safe. It's different in reality.

People have a sense of power when on the Internet that they do not have at school or anywhere else. Sometimes, people post mean things without realizing it. They do something to sound cool or to be funny and end up hurting someone's feelings. Since they are confined in a room or wherever there are with a laptop or a mobile phone they feel they cannot get into trouble or have recognition as a bully. Like you said about your Instagram problem, people respond sexually sometimes. The fact that something has to do with "that stuff" riles people up in ways that their brain sees as a excitement or some sort of opportunity. This mostly happens with males because of their brains desire for sex. It does seem gross but not all boys are like that, I'm a boy I should know. Anyway, the guy who told you that you should get raped was playing the situation as a moving picture in his mind or something on the lines of that. His mind told him to write that for the pleasure of himself. People write things that they think will have some effect on them or their future. The truth is, it is better to ignore those hurtful comments or speak to an adult about how something hurt you. When you see those comments just ignore them. When your friend who was defending you tried to stop them she/he made it worse and after a comment like that is sent out somewhere the sender usually will have to have the final word due to the fact that his brain does not want to lose the "pleasure" mentioned before.

im REALLY sorry about what happened on your instagram. but people are so mean on the internet because they simply can. they can and they don't have to say it to the person's face so it gives them power and they don't know how the other person will react because you can't see their face. hope i helpedSmile
