How can I ask my cousin for her number via twitter?

So i recently made a twitter and Im following my cousin who I basically grew up with but i guess we went our separate ways once we hit our teen years. I noticed she is not following me back. Would it be polite for me to ask for her number? Or should i take a hint from her not following me to leave her alone?

I think that you should just send her a note on twitter saying that u want to keep in touch a little more than u do. Say that you think that she is mad at u and ask way and say u are sorry if u did anything wrong. But be nice
