Twitter - I randomly got 60 followers overnight?

Well I woke up today to having 220 followers, and I had 160 something last night.. and I don't know any of them.. can someone explain what's happening?

May be they are just spam.

maybe you have the same name as someone who has told people that they have recently joined. maybe someone gave you a shoutout or someone with a lot of followers/a sorta twitter celeb retweeted/replied to one of your tweets drawing attention to you.
there could be a number of reasons!

there probably bots, check what there info is, if it sounds porno style stuff its a bot, or if it tweets links to people all the time its a bot. twitter tries there hardest to get rid of them there just spam if not then maybe someone popular retweeted your tweet and you gained followers that way

Well one thing you can do is see those followers and notice if they have normal tweets and if they have many followers... If you find them weird or fake, mark them as spam

Best option is to investigate their accounts and see if they look like real people since they could be bots/spam.

If People Like your Tweets They will Follow you if you dont want them following you just simply remove them
