You can advertise your business on Twitter but its seen as social media so I wouldn't blantly advertise on it. I'd setup an account and then discuss and share links in your business area.

I have a Twitter account (dot_design) and I share links and views on design this has gained me over 2300+ followers in around 6 months, I've achieved this by being me and by sharing rather than just plugging my business. I recommend this way of going about things. Hope this helps.
