How do I send on the internet?

Help!!!! I keep tweeting myself. I thought a sent a couple of tweet, but they always end up on my home page. What am I doing wrong. I put the other person twitter name in and no result. For example: Say I want to sent the user: littlebopeep a message, I put in @littlebopeep (message) in the what's happening section of my home page and it alway come back to me. Help, what am I doing wrong?
