Target specific keywords and build links. I use seo software to research my links and competitors. After you have done your research and targeted your keywords, try advertising your website in online directories. It is inexpensive and some of them get a lot of traffic. You can usually buy a one-way backlink for a $1. This works two-fold because your website will get some cross traffic and it helps build page rank. Also, don't forget to use the keyword you are targeting in the link title for all your backlinks you buy.
