Of course he didn't. Dave Grohl has way too much class to engage in a public feud with Ms. Courtney Love. His publicist did make a statement but I would hardly call it "firing back".

He has said negative things about her publicly, yes. As for not being able to use the gun on himself, it is fairly common for people who use shotguns for suicide to use a toe to pull the trigger, as odd as it sounds.
