Me, personally ? I use Linux which so far (as a desktop) has not been targetted by criminals. And I don't send my personal details to Nigeria, or any more details than are strictly necessary, anywhere. E.g. I use a PO box address, and lie about my date of birth.

I use different passwords everywhere, and keep them in an encrypted store (Firefox, with a master password in case the computer's stolen, for web ones). I make up random answers to password reset questions and store them, too, instead of using real ones like my mother's maiden name of the name of my dog.

1. Blocking pop-ups

2. Using SafeSearch programs on various search engines

3. Common Sense!

Stop clicking on the ads for penis enlargement because I'm starting to think they are all a scam.

There is no way you can guarantee online safety because there will always be that one guy or girl that will decide to be a troll and hack you or do other macabre acts.

MHALLIFAWAS.
Is made up from the first line of a nursery rhyme Mary had a little lamb.
Do not use this as it would be too common and perhaps IN USE ELSEWARE.
A better method is to choose your favourite song, one that you have held in your head for years; write down the first line and you could end up with something that is very difficult to plunder. I.e. HOW MANY TEARS CAN YOU CRY WHEN SOMEONE MAKES YOU BLUE.
The artists name could be used as a reminder if they were not a one song wonder.

Becomes HmtCuCwSmuB!u£ again this is a particular instance which you should NOT USE as it is now known to millions.

1. stay away from cyberbullys. If you do get to one ignore them and leave.
2. if your in a chat room and someone is making you feel uncomfortable leave.
3. stay away from bad websites. They may give you viruses and hack your computer.
4. if someone is harassing you tell them to stop. If they don't stop you may have to take action and tell someone.
5. if some says "i'm gonna hurt you" or "i'm going to beat up your friend" you may have to take action and tell someone.
6. saying "I want to kill you and eat your guts and put your head on a stick and burn your body" is illegal. if someone says that to you take action and tell someone or the cyperpolice.
