How do I sign into Youtube using Yahoo Mail?
I signed up for a Gmail account, which is now active, but I used to use my Yahoo Mail address and a password for Youtube to log into Youtube.

Now this won't work, and I have lost access to my YT username and all my favourites etc.

Does anyone know how I can get back into Youtube the old way?

Or even a new way would be fine, but the login refuses to accept anything other then the new gmail e-mail account as the login - that DOES work, but it creates a totally new YT user, which is not what I want - I need to log back into the original one I always used to use... Sad
@ Zahid - I'm not prepared to believe that without lots of backup evidence. They could not delete your old Youtube account without your authorisation(provided you are not spamming etc).
Yes, my account is still active on YT, and all my videos and my favourites are still there. I just went to YT and searched for my username, and all the vids are there, but I can't login to YT as the owner of that account...
@ Ari - Thanks for the very comprehensive post. Smile I will try that.
Refuses. Says password is incorrect. It might be - I have planted the seed of doubt now, by trying several that I think it might have been. I was always signed into YT, and never needed to enter the password. Therefore, I think I need to have YT send an email to my Yahoo email address to confirm my ID, so that I can reset the password for my original YT account, then I could link it to the new gmail address. Anyone know where I can get hold of YT people to do that?
Found a page to do that, where I can enter in my cellphone number, and they will txt me a authentication code, but although I went through this process three times, the txt never arrived on my phone. The number I entered IS correct, and it IS the one linked to the original account. As I cannot get the txt message, I cannot complete the option, and now, after a few attempts, I have been locked out of that as an option - probably as they think I am trying to hack the account - my own account, might I add... QUESTION: Does YT txt outside of the US? Perhaps it will never work. In am in New Zealand.

Note: unless you follow the guidance properly you better not delete your old account or change anything. Giving you two reference I think you must try the first part me too did the same with old user account. Also before you proceed please clear Internet browser's history and cookies first.

Refer url link for details. As per Google (Youtube) Help.

Unlink my YouTube account from a Google Account

Unlinking is only possible for legacy YouTube accounts created before May 2009. YouTube accounts created after May 2009 cannot be unlinked from the Google Account.

To unlink a legacy YouTube account from a Google Account, follow the steps below. Please note that you will be immediately asked to link to another Google Account.

Make sure you're signed out of all Google Accounts and visit this page: http://www.youtube.com/my_account_unlink
Enter your YouTube username and your old YouTube password from before you linked to your Google Account, then enter the verification code.
Next, click Unlink My Accounts.
You'll need to re-link your YouTube account to another Google Account. You can link it to an existing Google Account that you own, or create a new one.

Each Google Account can only be linked to one YouTube account and vice versa; if a Google Account already has a linked YouTube account, you won't be able to link another one.

You must refer url link for details. According to the Google (Youtube) Help.

Connecting a Google Account to your older YouTube account

Following YouTube’s acquisition by Google in 2006, new YouTube accounts were given the choice between two different account systems to power their YouTube experience:

the original YouTube account system (built in 2005)
or
the Google Account system

In May 2009, we started requiring all new YouTube usernames to be powered by Google Accounts, and now we're asking all users with legacy YouTube accounts to link a Google Account to their YouTube username. This is required in order to continue using your YouTube username.
What does linking to a Google Account mean for my YouTube account?

YouTube usernames themselves aren’t going anywhere. No matter when you signed up for YouTube, or if you’re currently associated with a Google Account, you’ll still be “LifeOfTheParty29” (aka “your username”) on YouTube.

A Google Account is not necessarily a Gmail account. You can create a Google Account with any email address through many different Google products, just like you can create a Twitter or Facebook account with any email address. Of course, you can choose to use Gmail as the email address for your Google Account.

Choosing not to link won’t delete your YouTube videos - you just won’t be able to sign into your YouTube username until you link your YouTube account to a Google Account.

If you have an older YouTube account and you’d like to link to a new or existing Google Account today, just visit this page and choose to link to an existing Google Account or a brand new one. You can also visit our Linked YouTube/Google Accounts topic in the Help Center for more information on common questions and issues.
