Was it unnecessary for more than 60millions of civilians and soldiers to die in the two World wars?
And what would be the potential deaths in a Third World War, caused by rogue nations?

Would the power of the Internet and social media be able to prevent it?

Tks for your nice thoughts! :-))

-I think all war is unnecessary.

-The third world war could possible end the world with all this talk of nuclear warfare.

-I truly think that the internet and social media would not be able to prevent a war.

*I hate to be so negative, but this is my opinion,

Yes; neither of those wars had to be fought. And if WW III will either be nuclear or nanobots, so the death toll could be up to 1 billion.

It is completely necessary, unless you'd like to live in an extremely crowded area.I like to think that the World Wars was for population control.

-To say that their sacrifice was a waste is...a disappointing, and to some, a mildly offensive stance. Was it tragic, of course. Was the loss of life necessary to stop tyrannical fascism and religious genocide...Yeah probably.

-I predict that WW III will not result in any deaths. No one on this planet would benefit from global nuclear holocaust; no one wants that. WW III will be fought by economists, with all the nations trying to bankrupt one an other.

-It will inevitably be fought using the internet as a weapon. So, in a sense, perhaps. By eliminating the internet, you disarm your enemy. Will social media be able to stop it...maybe in terms of psychological warfare; spreading propaganda, organizing social unrest etc. However, the people "calling the shots" probably won't be influenced, and I doubt you'll be able to Tweet them to death.

-The First World War was probably unnecessary, as neither Germany nor Austria-Hungary were really an evil power.
-However, the Second World War was a conflict that had to be fought to stop the largest rogue states in history. Imperial Japan, Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy needed to be stopped to make sure that all of Europe and South-East Asia didn't fall under the occupation of empires.
-Also, the death toll of the two World Wars was probably closer to 85 million than 60 million.
-A Third World War would probably start in one of the 'Hot Regions' (the Middle East is today's Hot Region, at one point is was South-East Asia, at others it was Central Africa)
-The theoretical Third World War may play out between Israel and Iran, which would drag NATO and Russia into the war, and cause an inevitable nuclear conflict.
-The odds of such a conflict being stopped by the internet are slim to none, as none of the major wars we know of so far have really been affected by the age of technology, as most militaries get too far involved into wars before the public can turn against them, and therefore their commitment is such that it is nearly impossible just to leave and go home. Examples include Vietnam and Korea, where U.S involvement was so great that it took years to pull out of the areas.
