How can I get someone I like to follow me back on twitter?

There's this girl who I like. I follow her on twitter & I want to get to know her better but it's kind of hard since she doesn't follow me. Is there anything I can say to get her to follow me back without making myself look desperate?

start retweeting their stuff and favoriting them!
don't do too much where you seem like a stalker but get them to notice you if she doesn't already.
