As soon as I made a new facebook, someone added me? How did this person find me?

Nothing personal, but I just wanted to make a FB for fun and don't want everyone requesting me. Was this automated if the person had my email in their contact list? Can I turn off this feature or whatever it is? I don't mind if my name is searched, but I don't want automated notifications sentout telling everyone I made a profile. Thanks!

1. Create a new e-mail address that doesn't have any part of your name in or nor have you used to communicate to anyone you know.
2. Create a new Facebook account in which your name is abbreviated or not fully typed in.
3. Do not place a photo of yourself in which people recognize you as you.
4. Do not place which school you're attending or have attended.
5. Do not place the City/State in which you live or have lived.


Once you follow that, you'll be completely not searchable and then you can be yet another Facebook Lurker.
