Do You Think It Would Have Been Better for Anthony Weiner To Be Honest About the Pics From the Start?
Like if he said from the beginning that he sent out pictures of himself on his Twitter account, would that have made things any better for him; especially if he acted all nonchalanat about it?

Yes, the whole thing would have blown over a lot quicker with a lot less attention.

Yes; the cover-up is always worse than the "crime".

I would have had respect for anyone that when a story is exposed the face the music like a man and own up to a mistake.
It is not just the lies about sending the Tweets, he also falsely accused a person of felonious activities and then conspired with the Daily Kos and Salon.com to further these claims and to imply that this person (Andrew Breitbart) had also released the names of the females involved. From a legal stand point, there is nothing illegal about sending lewd messages or photographs among consenting adults. There are definite moral issues, but nothing illegal. Criminally there is nothing illegal about slander or libel but there are civil actions that can cause him to be sued along with the Daily Kos and Salon.com. Normally one has to prove malice before they can be successful in such a lawsuit but I do not think there is any question that Weiner intended to do harm to Breitbart because he is the one that released the story. I am amazed though the liberals outrage when Chris Lee was caught posting photos of himself on Craigslist, these were not even lewd, they showed Chris without a top on. If Weiner had admitted that he sent them out and was acting rather nonchalant about it, I think that would have shown that he really and truly did not see anything wrong with what he had done. His reactions though indicate, to me anyway, that he knew full well what he did was wrong. |
