I spilled liquid on my Dell laptop and several keys no longer worked. I replaced the keyboard with a new one and now different keys do not work. Did I buy a defective replacement keyboard?
I'm currently using a USB keyboard but its goofy and cumbersome sitting on top of the laptop. The replacement I purchased was listed as being for my model (Dell N7010) on Amazon. I thought it was weird that it wasnt the same keys malfunctioning when I replaced it.

You might've. Or the liquid fried some of the motherboards circuits and any keyboard you put in will do the same thing.

Either use an external one or try another keyboard. They're not too expensive third party.

Ensure the keyboard you purchased was for the exact model laptop.

Hello Octopus Rex,
My name is Krishna and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell. Liquid spills are very unpredictable and even a small amount of liquid spilled on the laptop can cause a serious damage. Most likely, the liquid could have reached the motherboard which may have shorted out some circuits.

If you want to e-mail your service tag number and shipping address, I will have a look at the warranty to see what options we have. You can reach me at Krishna_KRN@Dell.com

Regards,
Dell-Kris K
