My ipod touch says- this app requires ios 4.3?
I was trying to download facebook and instagram to my ipod touch but that was the message I got. What had happened was my friend she got an iphone5 at At&t and so she did not need her ipod touch anymore and she said I could have it since she got the iphone and since I am a good friend I can just have her ipod touch and I said ok thanks. But she has had this thing for a really long time and so far I am unable to download any apps to it because of the above message. Why is that? I am not sure what generation it is or how to fix this please help thanks.

Hello.
First click "Settings" Then "General" Then "About" Look Version code...if it is under 4.3 (4.2 etc.) you can't download apps which requires 4.3. If it is jailbroken iPod,you can Install "vShare" in Cydia.Or you must upgrade your iPod to the new firmware. The new one is 6.0.1. |

"Why is that?"
Could be because you've got nothing newer than the 2nd Gen Touch, which maxes out at 4.2. You could have described it - whether it has a camera or not, its capacity, etc. There are also sites that will identify the iPod by its model number, or even its serial number. If it's got no camera, and its capacity is 8gb, then you've got the 2nd Gen. There were higher capacity versions of the 2nd Gen, so if it's got more than that (but no camera) it could be a 3rd Gen (its iOS would top out at about 5.1), but definitely not that if it's only 8gb. |
