How can I get many followers on twitter ?

I actually know that it's a silly question but I just wanted to know your experience on twitter

During Hurricane Sandy, I used my Twitter account to read what the poor citizens of Hoboken needed and helped - by providing information to those with only smartphones, by helping to arrange for a food truck delivery of 4000 meals provided by NYC Food Trucks and Jet Blue. I have only 10 followers but to me, they're my gold medals. Most use their Twitter accounts to help. And many people follow them as a result.

Answer: to get followers help others and/or do something that you have a right to brag about that would be of interest to the Twitter world.
