How to talk to her on Facebook?

So theres this girl in my class. She sits behind me. I don't really talk to her in person, but I will start to. Its a weekend and I want to message her on Facebook. How do I chat with her randomly?

1) Try to get the chance of doing some project with her, and after you have talked about work you start asking simple stuff like "so what are you doing now?" or "so... do you like x music group?"
2) Just talk to her. There's this girl that once, out of the blue, started telling me "Don't take me wrong but I've always watched you from afar and thought you were interesting, so maybe we could be friends etc...". You could do that.
3) Look at her profile and find out what does she like (movies, music, books) and look for an event related to that in your hometown. Get tickets and with that make up a conversation online to invite her. And hang out with her.
4) Say some random, out of context phrase like "yeah, but the guitar wasn't well tuned that time", then say you mistakenly talked to her but "now that we're at it, do you like guitars?" and let the conversation flow. Just an example, make one that's credible.
