Whats the website to check a soldiers identity?
I met this NAVY guy on a dating website and we like each other (I hope) but he deployed in Afghanistan and we will meet when he gets back at the beginning of the summer. We just have this weird connection and we've been even talking about marriage and kids and stuff. We are both adults okk.. he is 27 and I am 25. I just hope he is not lying to me. I heard there is website to actually check if someone is actually a military guy and get some information from that person. Do you know what the website is or any other way to find out if this guy is real? please.
OK i am 25 I am not that dummy to send him money.... but you all have given me great advices about the email thing.. i will ask him about that. Thank you all for giving me mature answers instead of criticism Smile

There is no public website to confirm that someone is in the military. Have you met this man face to face? If not, you may be getting scammed.

- Does he email you from a military email account that ends in .mil and NOT .com?
- Do you have his FPO address and mail him care packages that you know he received?
- Does he write you letters back that have a military postmark and free postage?
- Do you have video Skype chats with him and see his face in uniform occasionally?
- Is he you friend on a social media site? Does he have many facebook friends that are his shipmates in the military?
- Does he claim to be "deployed" and use that as an excuse for why you cannot have any of the above information?

Tell him that you want to be extra safe about scammers and he must email you from his official .mil email account with his FPO address so you can send him a Care package. If he won't do that, he is a fake.

When I was deployed, I could, and did, provide all those things to real friends and family members.
If you can't answer the points above, I guarantee you are being conned.

Be careful. If he mentions he needs a check sent to him for a flight back to the states or anything at all then that's a red flag. Run for the hills. Scam!
If anything seems off or you feel weird about it then go with your gut cause you're probably right.
For now if he seems real then continue talking. Just be on the lookout. They find females who don't know anything about the military. If you ask us we can tell you if what he says is true or just BS.

The easiest way to verify is to get an email from him with an address that ends with ".mil" no one who doesn't work for he Dept of Defense can have a .mil e-mail address.

If he is Navy, he shouldn't be allowed to wear his uniform off post when he is stateside so ask him "How often can you wear your uniform off post." the answer should be..."NEVER!" If he does not know the answer to the question then he is either a civilian or a Nigerian scammer.
