Do you think cutting is a "fad" among teens?
Primarily because incidents of cutting have spiked so steeply these past years (particularly with the onset of social media). I was speaking with a friend of mine who was a psychologist, and she explained that before cutting became somewhat of a media "fad", the only people who took part in it were deeply disturbed individuals; individuals with NO influence whatsoever when it came to cutting. That for them, cutting was a deeply personal issue; and even though there was no such thing as social media at that time, if it did exist they most certainly wouldn't be sharing evidence of their self harm with others
Also, do you believe that people would still cut if no scars were left? Do you believe that the aesthetic aspect of cutting contributes to its appeal? Ads |
