No they won't. Just don't click on any pop-ups at the side of the screen. Ebay is perfectly safe too. Facebook is crawling with viruses at the moment though. Any links you get posted on your wall or sent to your inbox that you are not sure about don't click on them. They are Trojans.

Have good anti Virus. The stuff you can download from download.com is good and you can get great stuff free. I'd recommend Avast Anti Virus, this does it all, and has a anti-root kit, unusual in a free product and the worst viruses deploy a root kit, and Super Anti Spyware, which is great for hard to find malware such as trojans. All of the stuff you download from download.com is tested as virus and malware free.
It's best policy to be safe in the first place, then surf the web without worries.
