How does Facebook make it's money when the membership is free?
I know there must be sponsors or something but where is the catch for us and what privacy factor do we have to sacrifice for this service???

Their advertising system generates a small percentage of money when someone clicks on it. Imagine an ad with a cost of 0.05 per click with a couple of millions clicks per day. A lot of money.
