Some email viruses can send emails from your computer, if left alone. You need to make sure that your computer is updated with Windows/Mcrosoft Updates, which comes out 2nd Tuesday of every month. Mostly if you have automatic update selected, it should take care ot it. My guess is someone has your password to hotmail or windows live account and they are sending emails on your behalf. It could by a spoof emails. Where they put your name in From field and send emails on your behalf. For security reasons, change your password and keep it hard to guess. Use Lower Case Upper Case and special charectors. Dont write it anywhere where people can see it.Dont send emails to too many people at once. Meaning too many names in To field gives out your addresses to other people.

About bad websites you need to keep a good internet security software. I dont work for one so I cont suggest you but I have personally used, Norton

You can do a FREE scan with malwarebytes. It will let you know if you have any viruses and remove them free. Just download it and try it.

A virus can....but most likely it's a bot sending out that spam......

This happens alot...usually a win 32 backdoor Trojan or bot is placed on the computer by going to unsecured sites or visiting a website that has a Malicious URL code built in for anyone clicking on the website....your e-mail has not been hacked...nor do you need to change your password (but that is up to you).....but the infection(s) must be removed...download and scan with these two free utilities....and when you download malwarebytes...it will ask you for a free trial to the paid pro version...just click "no thanks"...the free version works just as well....
