Ok. First search for Yahoo Avatars. Then create your avatar (if you want to change genders, save avatar, then click Change Gender. It will give you a default picture of a girl). If you have a Facebook or Twitter, it would be useful for the next step. I normally let Yahoo automaticly send my avatar to Facebook. Then I go on my Facebook and save the picture. Then I go onto my Yahoo file and change my picture to my avatar. I hope this helps!

You can use a photo or a Yahoo! cartoon avatar, and if you have a Facebook or Twitter account, you can also use those avatars.

Go to: http://profile.yahoo.com/y/settings/privacy/ - make sure your profile isn't hidden, because if it is, your avatar won't show.

If you want a cartoon avatar, go here to create one: http://avatars.yahoo.com/ - then click on "Yahoo!" under "Export your Avatar".

In case you want to use a Facebook or Twitter avatar, you need to link those accounts in the Profile options.
http://profile.yahoo.com/y/settings/linked-accounts/

You have several options in case you want a photo avatar:
a) go to your Yahoo! Answers settings at http://answers.yahoo.com/my-activity/edit/about , click "Update photo or avatar",
b) go to your Yahoo! Profile at http://profile.yahoo.com/ , click on the current avatar.
Now upload a picture or choose one of the pics you've uploaded previously.

Note: you need to use a desktop computer in order to change your avatar, you can't do it with a mobile.

To get a custom Yahoo! avatar go to this site:
http://avatars.yahoo.com
When you are done look to the right for the blue box that says, "Export your Avatar" and click the Yahoo! icon.
