Question about Spam on Twitter account ...?

I keep getting these weird "direct messages" on my Twitter account. A variety of spams saying people are posting bad things about me. Some appear to come from my followers, others from people I don't know.

I have been deleting them from my direct message area but how can I get rid of them or block them or whatever?
It was suggested that I "unfollow" the account or the user. But - I am not a follower of that person to begin with - or that person is my friend and did not send it. And, my account is also sending out the same types of spams.

I don't think you can get rid of them. I get a lot of those too. Just don't click on the link or you will send the link to other people as well. It's like a virus(:

it's annoying but you genuinely can't do anything about them, 98% of twitter get them, I wouldn't worry about it.

If you unfollow the account, or block them you wont receive them anymore
