I am about to delete the email I use to log in to facebook?
Can I do that? Because there is a virus on my email and it keeps sending messages to several people.

Yes. Just log in to Facebook and change the email to a new one. Deleting the old one wont affect your Facebook account, but emails and notifications will never make it to you until you put in a new one.
