start machine and keep tapping the F8 key until the option screen appears and choose the safemode with networking option then go to safety.live.com that is microsoft's online virus scanner it will clean your system for free...then go to malwarebytes.org and download their free scanner it will scan and remove the intruder for free...you can download a free rescue tool from avira.com or kaspersky.com just use another machine to download and make a disk...if you know the name of the virus you can find manual removal instructions at prescisesecurity.com or bleepingcomputers.com...the hard drive is inside your machine and should remain there it is where all your information is stored

The hard drive s the physical disk that stores your operating system and all your files. You would normally see it as drive C:
Start the machine in safe mode with networking on a wired connection, wireless will not do this. Download the free scanner from http://malwarebytes.org and run the full scan.

A hard drive is the storage device your computer uses, it's like a small rectangular box only a few centimeters thick, it's in the tower of your pc or in the bottom of laptops, they're easy to find on laptops as you simply unscrew the compartment and they pop out, now, a virus is gonna be difficult to deal with, what you need to do is downloads some free anti virus software like A free version of AVG or Norton, or preferably purchase a full version, when you have some anti virus software, you will be able to go into it and scan your computer, this scan will tell you if your computer has any infections and where they are, if it does find some virus then the software will be able to get rid of the virus for you at the click of a button. From what you describe though a virus wouldn't be the first thing that comes to mind, try downloading Ccleaner and run that to basically remove all the dregs of the Internet as well, GOOD LUCK!!!!!
