How do I get rid of a girl that obsessed with me?

Met a girl on a night out 5 days ago. She was pretty, seemingly normal and down to earth. She added me on facebook and we got chatting. Unfortunately it wasn't long before alarm bells were ringing...

Not long after confessing her feelings for me she's insisted on messaging me every day, questions me when I don't reply to her messages immediately and suspects that when I go to visit friends that I'm seeing other girls.

I've tried telling her that I want to take things "slow" and that I'm not sure I'm ready to get into a relationship. I've also tried leaving long periods in between my replies hoping that she'd take the hint, but no....

I've even tried hinting that I've been dating another woman! (which is also true) No luck.

Now the complicated bit. She's a relative of one of my mates and they're both coming to a social event on the weekend in which the woman I'm dating's friends will be in attendance. So I can't simply tell this girl that I'm "not interested" or it might cause her to go off the rails and cause a scene (she seems the type that would). I need to treat the situation delicately. Don't want her going crying to my mate, him getting pissed off at me and breaking my nose. I also don't want her to be all over me and for my lady friend's friends to think that I'm seeing other people and telling her about it. How do I get rid of her?

Not going to this event isn't an option by the way.

If I were you I would go talk to that mate of yours and explain your situation. Tell him that you really don't want to hurt this girl's feelings but wish for her to know you are not interested in any kind of relationship with her. However if this doesn't work, go directly to the girl and ask her if you guys can talk alone. Tell her kindly that you don't have any feelings for her and that you don't want a relationship with her.
