Why won't my iPod touch stay connected to the internet?
My (relatively new) iPod Touch 4th gen connects to the internet just fine, but when I put it in sleep mode, it automatically disconnects itself, which is kinda frustrating because I can't get notifications from Facebook, Pinger, etc. because they require internet and I have to go in and refresh everything manually to get notifications. I never had this problem with my old touch & this has been going on since we redid our home internet (I think we had to go in and change something on the iPod but I have no idea what?). Now it won't stay connected to ANY internet when I put it in sleep mode.

Can anyone help me fix this?

Okay do you have a Netgear router? It seems to be an issue with these routers. Same thing happened with me, every time I turned my iPod on and off, it wouldn't connect back automatically, so I'm guessing your situation is similar. Its worth giving this a go, no harm in trying. What I did was connected to my router manually in the ipod wifi settings. Go to the wifi settings and click "other" under choose a Network... Insert name of router, select security type and enter password, security type will most likely be wpa or wpa2. Hope it works for you.

The other answer is right about Netgear routers. Mine does the same thing with my Netgear router at home but stays connected everywhere else. The odder thing yet is that my ipod touch does this but my iphone stays connected.
