How to find/track ip address of https site?

At my high school, someone opened a "gossip account" basically making fun of everyone at the school, and said a lot of heinous things, notably making fun of a kid for his mother being dead. Twitter automatically uses https, not http, so I'm not sure how to find the ip address, as when I enter ping (the page's profile) on the command prompt, it is unreadable. How can I find this ip address so that we can find out who's behind the page?

You cannot ping a website if you put http/https
You just have to write down
ping http://www.twitter.com
OR
ping twitter.com
And the cmd will show you its IP address.
Every website has servers on different countries.
Like for example google. thousands of people search things on google every second. The website can't handle thousands of requests at a time so the website has to keep servers on different countries.

You can just report it to twitter

First of all you need to find the host from the twitter page. You can do that if you know the IP address. After knowing the host server, you should report to twitter. From that they can track the location of the computer and can take necessary actions.

Ping twitter.com will only give you twitter's ip address, not the user's. You just need to report his page.

It is not problem at all to find out IP address behind any website. You can use therefor any of website below that are specialized in tracking techniques:
http://www.ip-tracker.org
http://www.ip-address.org
http://www.find-ip-address.org
http://www.ipaddresslocation.org

But you are probably not aware that you can not track page of website and that page of website does not belong to owner of that page.

If you query twitter.com (there is not need to do it with https:// or http:// or www.) then you will get back IP address from twitter and every page of twitter should have same IP address.

If you would like to find out who is behind page then contact twitter. There is not any other way.

You need not worry about http or https because you need to use only the domain name(http://www.whoisxy.com.

Using ping in command prompt or http://www.whoisxy.com/ping.aspx will yield you the IP.

But all this will show details of the particular website (twitter) and not the one who has an account with the social site(twitter).

Probably you should report this to Twitter and may be they will block the account.
