Why do people flat out lie about their profession?
I have met a lot of people that claim they are social media gurus and they do not have two pennies to rub together. I have also heard, producer, photographer, in music, fashion and so forth. Do these people really think they are fooling anybody? Why don't they come down to reality and be honest? I understand you can have a hobby but why call your hobby a profession? Wouldn't you rather go to a job where you get a pay check then walking around with delusions of grandeur? I do not understand this. It just seems like recently (in past 5 years) more and more people do this or maybe I am getting older I don't know. Some even have business cards and/or a website. Why go to that trouble? To me if you are actually making a living doing whatever that is your profession. If you are NOT that is NOT your profession. I totally loose so much respect for people when lie like this. I mean if you want to change professions but you have not yet, why not say I am an aspiring writer or whatever?
@Tommy This is in Seattle. I never ask what a guy does in the dating scene. I figure as long a man is bright enough to have a profession hes has potential. Smile

In fact some women will only date a man based on his profession. They get specific like they will only date cops, doctor, military or whatever. To me that's kind of weird. I guess if you are looking for a certain personalty type that not strange but you still have objectified that person at that point.
@paul Here I will return the favor and NOT pretend I have any idea what you are talking about. Smile

one of the reasons is that they desperately wish that they have that profession, so they just act like it's real.
it's the case of faking it until you make it.

Hi. People nowaday can't handle reality. They either don't have a proffession, or the one they wish they had , they only dream of. I don't know where you live , but , this is most of the case here in Las Vegas, NV .its such a Liers club here!.And people here always pretend to be something they are not. I have a Proffession, I don't lie about it , Can't get a Date to save my life ! lol, [Maybe my age has something to do with it also] but, if your associated with Security or Law Enforcement , your done. Thats it,!!! your out in the Cold !.lol.

From a doctors perspective, I see people like this in my higher-high-rise-than-yours and while shrinking them metaphoricaly and doctorically I conclude these people have low self of steam and have acombination of one upper sindrome, imbetathanuites and glamoremoreism.

@Amanda I bartend in at anthonys homeport in Everett. Tonight I had a self claimed millioniare talk at the bar for hours while drinking well rum and cokes and left 1 dollar tip. I'd rather he drank sodas and left me nothing for a grain of honesty for just one night. I feel your pain.
