What's a facebook? How does it work?

My friend wants me to use facebook. What's a facebook? It it a safe site? no virus or like that?
Do you have to make a account to use facebook?
Are signing up simple?

If you know what myspace is, then facebook is really the same thing. You do have to make an account and it is quite simple. Just provide the username and password you wish to use with an active and valid email account and you are good to go. Everything else is pretty self explanatory once you sign up.

Facebook is a social networking site. It's very simple to use and is actually quite handy. It'l let you keep in touch with old friends, share pictures, send messages, etc etc. You do have to make an account to use facebook, but it's very easy and simple to do.

You do have to be careful though, because whatever information you put on your facebook page is now out on the internet. You can make your profile private so only your friends can see it, or public so anyone can view it. It's very important to not put info on like your address or phone number if you don't want a specific friend with access to your facebook site to see!

It has also been banned at many places of work to increase productivity. Privacy has also been an issue, and it has been compromised several times. It is also facing several lawsuits from a number of Zuckerberg's former classmates, who claim that Facebook had stolen their source code and other intellectual property.
