My idea is: An android app that notifies you when certain people of your choice are online on any social networking site such as gmail chat and facebook. This app will just send a notification to your phone, and you can like set a little ringtone or something, or just a silent notification. You can select any people on either gmail chat or facebook, and tell the app to notify you when any of these people are online, and the app will say something like:
"Joe Schmoe is now online on facebook! -5:45pm" (obviously include the time because the person checking their phone might be checking it at a later time)

How do i program this? And do you think I should sell it for 99 cents? Thanks

You will need to learn to code.
You will need to contact Facebook, Google, Yahoo, etc. to ask them for their chat API.
The price would be okay. Offer a free trial first for a week first, that way they will get used to using the application and when they stop getting notified they will miss the messages and will be at a 'loss' without your application, then they will make the purchase.

Good luck.

It is a good idea but you will need the social media site's APIs. Also you will need to pick up coding for android and if apple products, iOS. Both of which can be complicated if you are not familiar with OOP and other languages but not too challenging
