Facebook and password?
Is it necessary that I give out my e-mail password when I sign up for Facebook? If so, why?

Yes you do, you need to as that will be what will sign you in alongside your password

No it is not, you can sign up with just an existing email address and a password.
The email address is your current email address. The password can be anything, I would NOT use the same password that you sign into your email account with. |

Yes, but I believe it is hidden as a security measure. Once, an attempt was made to hack into my account from Brazil (so I was told), and FB prevented it.
However, it's been a while since I opened my account, and it may not be required now. |

Hey cidyah--
Think you got some good guidance from a couple folks. Use a different password and an email address that you don't care about spam getting to it... like gmail or yahoo |

If you use a different email address, you don't need to give any information except that email address...no password to that email address id needed. That's just there if you forget your facebook password and need to have it reset. They ( facebook ), send the information to your email address.

You use a personal key for your home, and you keep it, so facebook a land and you profile is like a building on the land that's why you use a email and password for security.
