What's your opinion on this.?
SERIOUS DISCUSSION.
...Do you feel the the newer/future generations of the american people are rather incompetent. I know that is sounds hypocritical as I am of that particular generation. However nearly anywhere I look I constantly see immaturity. In the media,in my town, and in my school. For example in my highschool (Private) students have difficulty subtracting (whole and decimal #) and dividing numbers(whole) in under a minute. They constantly need their calculators even for hte simplest task. They(majority) consider a 65 a passing grade for themselves and never truly strive hard enough. Even for a big test (Finals for example) if they failed and tried to retake it they would fail again for they wouldn't try. Yet somehow though all of this and more they will constantly think that they are far better than everyone else, that they are cool. Of course there have been a -FEW- aquaintances that have been quite intelligent and enjoyable to debate worldy matters with. I understand that by saying all of this I can and will be seen as arrogant but in a way that is a painful truth I accept. To summarize what are the causes of this (there has to be more than one). Is it the media being too localized, is it parental guidance, or etc? As far as I've seen the ones who constantly think they are cool are actually members of society that are below "standards". Such as physically, mentally, and socially. Once again I apologize if I anger any of you, I am after all a first generation in this country (Asian-american) that still abides by ancestral cultures. Therefore I'm quite ethnocentric and arrogant ( I struggle to not be). In my past I have had dealings (Harassment,Bullying;Mainly racially relatable) so I've become a rather harder natured person. I come to see that the strongest in society are actually the ones who are oppressed. I see the strongest as people who know how to be humble and love others, while I see the weak as those who cannot grasp onto their own existence let alone others.
-I mean well though I do care for people, which is why I seek to change this world, to provide a small light for those who are in doubt of this darkening world. To do that I must understand the roots.

Sorry for my grammar and thank you
I would also like to ask why this world is so uncoperative with eachother. Wether it be though philosophical beliefs or political.(I'm catholic...going to be a priest btw and I see this alot) The belief of God is fair and people have the ability to love. Yet we still abandon our very sanity for lust and vengeance.
As of beliefs I feel we should chose what we feel is right, we can't force it upon another.
Can a man do good deeds and still not be fair? Yes
And politically is it the lust for power that drives us isane and how does that happen
--- Sorry for long long long question...I'm a asian teenagers that constantly reflects on this world :3
- I would like to thank you everyone for respecting me and eachother's feelings through your answers. It is your understanding and perspective that helps us understand one another. May one day together we may create a new future. I would so like to thank you for the seriousness and time of your answers. It gives me hope that humanity can unite...

I concur and the reason for the problems of our generation is mostly due to technology

Good.

Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. We have several powers like physical power, mental power, moral power, spiritual power, divine power, ego-power, intellectual power, discrimination power, etc. One should try to fully utilize all his powers to arrive at a good judgment.

I feel very much so that the newer/younger generations of America are incompetent, lazy, self-centered, and laden with inferiority complexes (the reason they feel they're better than everyone else). I wonder, though, whether, with my irritation at my peers and despair for humanity's follies, if such worries have always been with each generation. I wasn't with the others, so I wouldn't know.

They don't try to achieve for a number of reasons. They don't want to be different--they don't really seek understanding or knowledge, that incurs the wrath of social pressures. Fear motivates them to stay below their potential. Their unintelligent behavior is partly due to the fact that too many tasks are done for them, along with the fact they are likely settled into a strong routine with little mental stimulation.
The media produces an incredible amount of social pressure, almost to the point of brainwashing because children are now exposed to it at such an early age. Parents are frequently negligent, unaware of how to raise a child in a conducive manner, and do not supply the necessary affection because they're in the process of a divorce.
"Cool" is to be like everyone else. I would guess that because many were not intelligent to begin with, when this pressure for normality began, everyone clustered together and was to afraid to branch out, for fear of being attacked by other people afraid of difference, along with other fears.
I would agree that the strongest are the oppressed. They have to work for their life. The weakest, the ones on top, stagnate and become weak for lack of exercise. Those that are the underdogs in school, those that are persecuted, are the ones that will eventually have high-pay jobs...their former tormentors will not.

Why is this world so uncooperative? Why can't we all just get along? Why can't each person have the right to choose for themselves their beliefs, values, and paths through life? Some of it because humans can't always choose well enough for themselves. Most of it, because human nature just simply won't allow it yet. Perhaps, in a few centuries (should we still be alive by then), we will learn better.

In answer to the last question, politics, in its current state, really simply just needs to be thrown out and replaced with a better system. People rarely lose their sanity in pursuit of power, political or otherwise. They had already lost their sanity before they chased after their instincts.

*Instant Everything* The current generation, and to a lesser degree the one before it, is used to having what they want immediately. The idea of working toward a goal over a period of any time at all is foreign to them. Any kind of sustained effort bores them, so they just won't do it.

*Society has Made Everything Illegal* That's not their fault. Things older kids did and didn't get in trouble for, will get kids of today sent to PRISON! It pretty much enforces a sedentary lifestyle. Between gangs, police, and insane laws against everything from snapping a girl's bra strap (I mean, seriously? ...THAT is sexual assault?) there's little teens CAN do that isn't dead boring unless they're from upper middle class or above families.

*The Culture of False Praise* These kids were raised in an atmosphere where parents were so concerned about making sure they had positive self esteem, that they really DO believe they're extra special, even though they're completely average. Since they are so extra special, no need exists for them to put forward any effort whatever. The world OWES THEM a successful life, simply by virtue of their very specialness. Mommy and/or Daddy said so.

*Peter Pan Parents* For several generations now, "western" parents have chosen not to grow up. They are so concerned about themselves, their careers, their social lives, their f-ing THINGS and other me-me-me-me-me stuff, children are raising themselves, and they're not doing a very good job of it. Either that or one parent, usually the father, has taken off and left the other alone to do all the bread winning and parenting solo. Those are both full time jobs. Add house keeping and all the rest, and you have parental burn out, big time.

*Growing Gap Between Rich and Poor* Corporations own politicians, one entire party and a small part of the other, so the gap between rich and poor in this nation is growing at an alarming rate.

*Drugs and the War on Drugs* Aside from the obvious tragedy of lives and minds wasted due to drug addiction, the WAR on drugs is a complete waste of money and resources. Of course now we have for-profit prisons, so THEIR lobbyists would not be happy about legalization, nor would the biggest lobby in the world, the PHARMACEUTICAL lobby, so that's not likely to happen any time soon.

*Internet Porn* I don't believe in censorship, and I also believe people will eventually become so inured to it that it will no longer destroy marriages and the expectations of young men, but for now it's a tremendous time sink, and prevents "real" relationships for many guys, which makes them unhappy and depressed. Many a professional man and many a student has lost all over internet porn.

We are divided from within,we're in gridlock, and as I learned in the service, sh*t rolls downhill. The behavior of the governing bodies in the US and the zealots on the fringes has divided, confused and weakened our nation, and kept a generation of less fortunate young men dying in the deserts and mountains for wars of choice that never needed to be, just so some people connected to the president who started them could profiteer and swim in oceans of blood money.

With all possible respect to your Catholic beliefs, I will not bring any deity into this discussion. I don't think faith or lack thereof has anything whatever to do with it.
