Is someone stealing my internet to down load porn?
Ok,

So I just finally got Wi-fi for my house. I was without internet for my computer for less than a month before this... before that I was using my mobile hot spot to use my laptop. Anyway, so the WIFI was set up yesterday... I have used it for facebook, email and pinterest. My husband has not used it yet. Anyway, tonight when I went to open a new tab... it showed my saved pages... some I didn't know what they were so I clicked on them and they were hard core porn...I kept hitting the x on all of them but there were so many, and they were listed as "active" while my FB etc were listed as "less active" - but those are all I have used. And no offense to anyone else, but porn isn't my thing and like I said my husband hasn't even been on it yet (hasn't been home) since we set up the WIFI.

Anyway, my question is... could this be from someone stealing my interest? I have it through the cable company and they set up a "key"... is that enough tp protect our internet? Or do I need to do more? And if someone is stealing my internet, would it actually show up in my tabs like this?
Some one has gone to porn almost 2 years ago on my laptop... but they say it hasn't been since that. And I sure as heck haven't... so... would it realy pull up those old searches now?? Or am I being lied to?
Oh, and when I was using my laptop from my hot spot, these were not there. It wasn't until today that they showed up.

just ask your provider to set up a password for you and dont worry WIFI is pretty hard to crack into and most of the saved pages are usually based on previous searches from YOUR LAPTOP so..

It is most likely a virus.
You can get them from seemingly legitimate sites sometimes.

Or someone else, has been looking up porn without your knowledge.

No, a person cannot "steal" your internet, however they could possibly have hacked into your network are are utilizing your wireless connection for their own purposes.

However, a person who does that cannot simply access your laptop without going through many different stages. It is most likely our computer is infected with a virus, or other malicious software, such as spyware and malware. Commonly, browsers can easily get affected by these types of malicious software, and automatically open tabs and windows to different sites that it is programmed to open. My brother once managed to have his laptop infected, which then behaved similar to your laptop.

Recently, there has been a large-scale Java intrusion/infection which can easily affect your computer if you have not disabled Java, which is used by many websites. Whether it has been resolved or if the Java infection can do the described symptoms, I am not sure, but it is a likely cause.

The most efficient way to remove the threat would be to install an anti-virus program if you have not installed one, and then to run a full virus scan. If you are using Windows, install free anti-virus programs such as Microsoft Security Essentials (which is usually more than effective enough) at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windo...-download.

If you are using a Mac, try avast, Sophos, which should both be free.

Please note that just because an anti-virus might be a paid-for product, it does not mean that it is any more effective or efficient than free anti-virus programs. Free ones have sometimes turned out to perform better in anti-virus tests.

Run the full test and see if the problem is solved. If not, try running another anti-virus (though not at the same time, as they will conflict with each other).

When someone steals your wi-fi, the porn winds up on their computer, not yours. Like the others said, you have some sort of browser hijacker that is showing you these pages.

You could try installing another browser and see if that one gets hijacked, too. That would eliminate the possibility that someone is getting on your computer and using it without permission. The old pages are weird since you didn't see them until now. Maybe another computer on your network is infected and it spread over the wi-fi to your laptop? If so, that would explain why you never saw these pages until the wi-fi started working.

If you want to play detective, you can download Advanced IP Scanner for free. It will scan your network and tell you who is on it. If anything looks suspicious, then maybe someone is on your wi-fi:
