Can mvoing files from one computer to another give the computer viruses?
I recently bought a new computer, and I have my old one which is old, useless, full of viruses, but holds all 25 gigs of my music. Would moving the music from that computer to the new one possibly give the new computer viruses?

Most definitely. It would be safer to move them to a flash drive, install antivirus software like AVG or something on the new computer and then scan the flash drive before moving to the new computer.

ABSOLUTELY!!! Bring your old computer's drive to an expert. They should know how to move your files safely.

install an AV on the PC where the music is and target only the files where the music is. Go to
http://www.iolo.com/system-mechanic/pro/download.aspx and click on the blue link, left hand middle of the page and run it. or connect only the hard drive on you good computer and have an AV scan just the music file and THEN if they are clean, make a copy of them on your desktop. next, once you have them, go to 'my computer' and format the hard drive from the old computer and copy ALL the music files from your desktop and send them to the newly formatted hard drive and you will have a drive that you can plug onto any other computer. you can also buy a hard drive caddy as to make it portable and external. |
