What is the effect of social networking sites to your health(emotional, physical, spiritual)?
Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and other social networking sites are now a trend today. For a normal TEENAGER, what would be likely the effects of Social Networking Sites to your health(emotional, physical, spiritual)? Please elaborate your answer. Smile Please specify...if you have experiences,,,you can share it here.
Can you please help me out?

i,m 63. i was on facebook for a while. i found the experience to be shallow, and too "chatty". if facebook works for you; fine. since i,m not a cell phone addict; i see the entire process as somewhat self absorbing. real human contact is face to face. the barrier that electronic socialization puts up seems to be depersonalizing. i think it,s a very mixed bag. people walking while engrossed in their cell phone seems like an addiction.the use of this media not going to disappear. my cell phone is used like a person from the 50,s would use a phone. i guess by default, that makes me something of a luddite.

"People's health could be harmed by social networking sites because they reduce levels of face-to-face contact, an expert claims.

A lack of "real" social networking, involving personal interaction, may have biological effects, he suggests. He also says that evidence suggests that a lack of face-to-face networking could alter the way genes work, upset immune responses, hormone levels, the function of arteries, and influence mental performance. This, he claims, could increase the risk of health problems as serious as cancer, strokes, heart disease, and dementia."

Hmmm... Scary huh... but may be true. Smile
