How can I remove the 'Police Central e-crime Unit' virus?
Just got it about an hour ago on my personal laptop. Didn't give money or anything so thank god for that, but having no luck sorting it out. I tried a few methods suggested online to remove it, but my safe mode doesn't work and the restore thing won't work either. Should be able to send it to get someone to remove it, but the money's a bit of an issue at the moment but I can't afford to wait - important work and coursework is on there!!!

Also, I had my webcam plugged in at the time as I was expecting a Facebook video chat soon, but wasn't actually using it. But when the page came up with the virus, it had a still picture of me up there as well. What does this mean? To what extent will my privacy be at risk?? The picture itself and the ones on my laptop are harmless but it's the principle!!!

Please, any help and suggestions. I don't know if the virus is being updated and they're finding ways to over ride recoverery methods or something?? HELP!

I had that and honestly didn't have enough time to kill the people who invented it.
Turn off your internet.
It will spread and update itself!
Go to a library or something with a memory stick or something and download Malware Bytes Anti-Malware.
Take it home.
Switch on your computer and while it is starting up disconnect the power supply.
Reconnect and reboot it.
Go into the command prompt and type in:
net user administrator /active:yes
Acess this account and run Malware Bytes.
While it is running search for files labled as numbers.
These are usually infected folders and should be deleted!
Have fun...

start machine and keep tapping the F8 key until the option screen appears and choose the safemode with networking option then go to safety.live.com that is microsoft's online virus scanner it will clean your system for free...then go to malwarebytes.org and download their free scanner it will scan and remove the intruder for free...you can download a free rescue tool from avira.com or kaspersky.com just use another machine to download and make a disk...if you know the name of the virus you can find manual removal instructions at prescisesecurity.com or bleepingcomputers.com
