How do you add people that go to your highschool as friends on facebook?

I saw that friend finder thing on the right side of the home-page, but you have to allow facebook to use all of your contact info, or something like that. Is that the only way to find people that go to your school, and if so, is it safe?

You will always have to give permission to anything on Facebook (apps or anything else) to allow it to get your basic info (name, etc.). In this case, it wants to see your school information. Once you do that, you will ahve a link on the 'find friends' page that says "Show friends from (school name/year)".

If you know the name or email of the friend you want to add, simply put that in the top search bar and you will bring up their profile without having to search by school.
