How to get rid of "Ads Not By This Site" virus?
So, I've had this virus before, and it only ever popped up on Youtube. I looked something up, got rid of it easily, and it's been like five months and it's come back again. But this time it's on all sorts of sites. Wikipedia, facebook, yahoo, etc. etc. And youtube, too. It's really starting to annoy me. I literally spent THREE HOURS trying to get rid of it, with all different sorts of methods, but nothing is coming up. It's not CODEC or the other things that it goes by, and I cannot figure out how to get rid of it! I just can't get rid of it, and it's really worrying me. Here are some pictures of how it's showing up:

Also, here are my Plug ins on Firefox. I'm not sure if these have anything to do with it, but you might, so here:

I don't remember putting ANY of those on there before, or even seeing them before. So, if you do know anything about this, could you please help? Thanks!

I can't see anything your firefox plugins at least that could be causing it, the only one I'm unsure of is "Unity Player" you could try disabling that but having researched it it does look like a legit extension.

I can only assume that the ads are either coming from rogue entries in your windows hosts file or your DNS settings have been hijacked.

You can try and fix these two problems by running these tools below:

*repair hosts file* : http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/rep..._file.html
*reset/clear DNS*: http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/rep...cache.html

After running these two programs reboot your PC, load up firefox and clear your cache selecting "everything" from the drop down box (Firefox/Clear Recent History)...

hopefully that would have worked, if so clear up any malware by using malwarebytes:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/

please let me know if this helps, it would be interesting to find out.

-thanks

First download then run TFC by old timer.
you can get it here > http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/files/fil...-oldtimer/

Next.
Download AdwCleaner from the below link.
http://general-changelog-team.fr/fr/down...adwcleaner (This is a direct download link)
or download from the home page as given below.
Double click on the downloaded file (AdwCleaner.exe)
click on Run. (if required by the security warning)
Now click on Delete,
a notification will pop up, click on OK
when deletion has finished a message will pop up,
after reading it click on OK,
you will then get a notification AdwCleaner must restart the computer,
click on ok.
when the computer restarts a text file will open up, close it.
Double click on the downloaded file (AdwCleaner.exe)
click on uninstall then click on yes to remove the utility from your computer.

to make sure you have not got other garbage left on there.
then run a full scan with SUPERAntiSpyware
Portable Scanner Technicians Edition > http://www.superantispyware.com/portable...rtech.html
and remove whatever it finds.
this also does not require installing,
just delete it when you have finished using it.

NOTE: AdwCleaner is a reliable removal tool for adware, toolbars,
potentially unwanted programs and Browser Hijackers.
It works with a Search and Deletion method.
No installing required,
It can be easily be removed
by clicking on the ineptly named uninstall button.

IMPORTANT NOTE :
The SmartScreen filter in Internet Explorer can block the download of AdwCleaner,
This is obviously a false alarm...
If you encounter this problem,
check out this article http://general-changelog-team.fr/en/home...adwcleaner
to see how to successfully download AdwCleaner.

AdwCleaner Home Page > http://general-changelog-team.fr/en/tools/15-adwcleaner
