If you get a virus on your computer what do you have to do to get rid of it?
This was an email on facebook that was supposedly from a friend but it was actually a xrated video file. It took forever to get back on the internet. Is there something in my laptops software that needs to be fixed or cleaned? I have never had this happen.
Thanks

If you suspect or confirm that your computer is infected with a computer virus. Download a free antivirus program and scan your computer then you should be able to remove it. Most popular free antivirus programs are AVG Anti-Virus, Avira AntiVir , Avast etc. Check out http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-sAFtLsc8erIoh.ENhksr2KyG for more details.

boot into safe mode press F8 while your booting and do a virus scan

Booting into safe mode turns off services where viruses can hide.

There are more extreme measures you can take but if you don't know the standard way of taking care of a virus I will not be able to explain them to you in thins manner

If you do not have security, I advise you to go to a store and buy you some. Avg, malwarebytes or something.

When you run a scan, it will tell you what you have. The longer you wait, the worst it will get. And it will remove it.

And it will put spam emails in spam. If is accepts something from a friend like that, it will get removed.

And you need one with a firewall.

You need to have an anti virus like Avast and an anti spyware like Spybot S&D to keep your computer safe. Also you can have a free firewall too. Search for one on http://www.download.com.

You should also create a limited user account for running the internet. It will provide you a great protection from unauthorized and unnoticed downloads.
