When a friend accepts my friend request, facebook shows him how many friends i got and the option to suggest me friends.
How many friends do i need to have in order for this to stop?

You should have many friends like around 30 and 40 if it does not work, add more friends and it will stop. if your friends keep suggesting friends for you that you don't know just click Not Now.then you will see something written: Request hidden. Do you know (name of person) outside of Facebook? click no then that person cant send you requests anymore if you still want her/him to still send requests click undo.
