Why are people being dumbed down?

I mean this in all ways, in music, personality, culture and social interaction. I mostly mean the last 10 or so years.Because the music is getting simpler and more mass produced, the whole #SWAG culture or whatever the f*ck it is just makes you look and sound stupid. Our culture is based off of the flaws within people, the media and television is filled with reality tv shows of stupid people doing stupid things that a person of normal intelligence would have avoided. Why are we as Americans becoming more and more egotistic and individualistic? I am not saying that egoism and individualism is a bad thing, I am a strong believer in individualism. Our morality as a society has gone down the toilet. Why do we worship celebrities fro their talents AND their flaws? We revolve m roe and more around social networking and the internet that we are slowly becoming reliant upon them for human interaction and entertainment. And we wonder why people hate Americans. I don't mean this stereotypically, but as a society we are becoming more and more stupid with every day that goes by.

It is called cultural collapse. All cultures eventually collapse, all in the same general manner and for the same general reasons. Symptoms in the USA have been apparent since WW2. Symptoms of impending collapse include basic service jobs taken over by immigrants; increasing welfare rolls; national defense given to mercenaries because citizens refuse to serve; debunking of national heroes and admiration of slobs instead; rejection of the dominant religion, morals, and all standards of excellence, first noticed in arts and then in all activities. The trigger for the final collapse is always random, and always something that a healthy society could have handled.

An easy answer I can give: because a few people want to make a profit. Capitalism is structured in a way that the strive for a profit and self-interest serve to perpetuate one another. While the government serves to protect business interests, business owners (especially corporations) who are becoming more prevalent today than states (75-80% of the world's wealth is in the hands of the top 1%). People are literally brought up in a world that reveres greedy people, people with high egos and utilize immoral tactics. What is considered moral is brought to question as well. Technology serves to disenchant (or separate) us, but also serves positive functions as well, such as better communication and the spread of vital information in a short amount of time. While the world's population increases over 7 billion, and technology advances, society must be structured more sustainably that allows human passion and creativity to thrive without self-interest being the only motive (profit). Many proponents of Communist Anarchism believe this type of structured society allows maximum individual freedom and equal opportunities. People would work for the own standard of living, not others. And prestige would be determined by how hard you work, not how much you make. Since people have the freedom to choose where to work and what to work on, their passion allows them to work harder and be more creative, effectively melding work and play.
