How can i get twitter on a jailbroken iphone 3gs?

My iphone is jailbroken and i would like to get various apps such as twitter, facebook, pinterest and others but when i go to download them from the app store a message comes up and will either say that my phone isnt compatible with the app or it requires a different version. Can i download something from cydia to help me with this? Alsos i cant update the phone because when i connect it to itunes it wants me to restore it and i think that will erase my jailbreaking.

Check and see if the jailbreak has updated or try and find another jailbreaking software, because it says what it says you are going to need a newer version...

One unfortunate feature of the iPhone 3G is that it comes with only one default text message background. Unless you have a jailbroken phone, you won't be able to change this background. Jailbreaking your phone is quite easy, however, and once you've done so, you'll have Cydia installed on your phone, an application that allows users to take advantage of applications and features outside the Apple system.
