dell latitude screen really dark?

i have a dell latitude and one day i was just browsing the web and the screen went almost off but then i put it in a very dark place and tilted the screen to an angle and i could see the screen extremely dim.

i have already tried the keyboard brightness buttons and that didn't help so an ideas?

Hello Ben,

I am from Dell Social Media and Community.

This could be a problem with the LCD screen.
However, try connecting an external monitor to your system and verify if there is any display on the external monitor. (Fn+F8 to toggle between the external monitor)
If there is no display/similar display on the external monitor the issue is with the video card, if there is a display you need to replace the LCD.

Use your users manual and verify the LCD connections before you replace the LCD.
