The world sat back and did almost NOTHING while 800,000 innocent people were murdered in an act of genocide in Rwanda in 1994.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rwandan_Genocide

If these events were unfolding in 2011, would things be different?

Would the internet, social media, and other media coverage which is different from the way things were 17 years ago create a different response from world leaders?

Would there be military intervention today?

What do you think?

No.

There's thousands and thousands of white people being tortured and murdered in South Africa because of their race and no one even talks about it.

@creoleknight: F-off and die, you disgusting white hater.

Depends where in the world it would happen.
If in africa again No it would be the same.
The world usually doesn´t care about what happens in Africa.

btw.Just for example there was a genocide ongoing in sudan since years and nobody only raised about an eyebrow because of this fact.
Ok the EU did send 2000 soldiers on a prestige mission to guard a refugee champ (for 6 month ;-) near by but this was all (there was no interesst in stopping the genocide which was going on just a view miles near by).

@ sophie you lot has treat south Afrikaans as animals for many many years.you could not expect it would come back to you? & why not? cause you're white??? as you say to black people in europe..go to where you come from if u do not like it. & leave africa to africans

and to answer this question:
It has hap pend again and happening first in IRAK by Americans, and now in afghanistan. but we'll read about it in few years and we'll all act as if we didn't know

@ Sophie i don't hate white nor anyone.I'm just giving you the obvious answer to your abnoxious question. why do u lot treat black people bad in their own country and expect them to glorify you?you're delusional

Yesterday President Obama made a statement on Libya.
He called the violence "unaceptable" but forgot to mention the dictator by name.
Ghadaffi has ordered war planes to indiscriminately fire on unarmed citizens. That is a war crime.

does that answer your question?

It is extremely sad that people went ape-sh^t and chopped each other to bits and pieces.
I think the world should have tried to prevent the slaughter.
And maybe had the ease of communications existed back then the massacre might have been mitigated.

On the other hand I don't want America to be the cop to the world unless our vital interests and security is threatened.
