Are Americans Ignorant of the Corrupt Government Controlling them?
In all seriousness, it seems like the average American is simply following the government like dogs on a leash. The government and media say one thing the people follow, they say another the people follow. Americans always say that the government is bad and filled with corrupt politicians, but I don't see anyone doing anything about it. Don't even talk about those Occupy idiots because all they do is sit and pout and wreck things while the politicians sit back and laugh at them. I learned in history class about John Locke and his social contract. The people and the government form a social contract that basically states that the government will do all in its power to protect the people. If the government does not do its job and is deemed corrupt it can be overthrown. Here I see Americans with their heads in the dirt and pretending all the bad things are not happening.

I don't know if we are ignorant as much as complacent and......alright....somewhat lazy.

Whenever the subject of government corruption or ineptitude comes up, most of us just throw our hands in the air and say "Those bastards !" and then put our feet up and watch Jersey Shore (or whatever-the-hell it's called).

It's WAY too much effort to stay informed (and I don't mean 'FoxNews informed' but, you know....actually informed).

So, anyway......(yawn).........please pass the popcorn....

For the most part, yes. Our government has completely lost sight of the principles upon which this country was founded and has been hijacked by special interests and the military-industrial complex.

The same case that happens to other countries. The reason why people can't do something to prevent it is because they are outnumbered. Nobody from people is willing to support their claims. If the people would unite with one goal, there is a possibility to change the government status. Media should be the watchdog of the public not an underdog.
