Is there a way to block certain people from seeing when you are online on Facebook?

I don't want to block him completely because he's useful for games and apps, but he feels the need to IM me every day and divulge information on sex he had with some woman who looks like me. It's pretty gross. I don't want him to see that I'm online, but I don't want to go offline either.

Unfortunately there is no way to block a specific person from seeing when you are online without removing them as a friend.

As of now, The only two options you have are:

1) Remove him as a friend.
or 2) not use facebook chat at all.

Just dont reply to him. And if he sends you a message in a game or something, tell him you forgot your Facebook online.

no way to block specific person, but u can turn off chat by hitting the chat icon in the bottom right and then sumtin like "sign out of chat"

No, and I hope there will be no such option. If you do not like to chat with someone s/he is not your friend. It's more polite to let them know that you are "busy" so they will not bother you ...or if they are very annoying delete them. It totally OK to do that!
