What type of job is a Public Relations job?

Is it considered a dull, 9-to-5 office job, or would it be suitable for someone with a unique personality and a free spirit? I'm majoring in public relations in college, and I've been reading up on what a career would be like, and I'm already a sophomore so there's nothing I can do to change it now unless I want to spend, like, six years here. I'm scared! I don't want my future to be dull. Help!
I can't do this! I can't! I wanted to be a singer/songwriter but it just wasn't practical! I still want to be, though. I want to be someone special when I'm older, not just another ordinary American worker. I can't do 9-to-5 office work! I'll be absolutely miserable. I'm headed down the wrong path in life and I can't stop now!

Hi, there are all different kinds of public relations jobs. Some of those will entail being out places promoting people, events, or things, or planning events, so I think there are lots of positions that would not involve only being in an office.
