GarageBand '09 having problems?

Hi, I got a white Macbook Late 2009 with Mountain Lion installed on it, I am a guitar player and really enjoy playing with Garageband. However, the application has had some bugs lately, sometimes the right part where you select your audio effects, loops, and else doesn't show, not even when closing and opening the app to see if that works. On the bottom part where the tuner can be selected, has had some bugs too, as nothing else but the 'Measures' show.
Does anyone know what can I do? A friend of mine has a similar Macbook Pro with Mountain Lion and GarageBand '09 and he says he doesn't have any of these problems.
